BHMA On The Road At Top Trade Shows For Building Industry
New York, NY -- This summer will see representatives of the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association
(BHMA) criss-crossing the country to participate in some of the building industry’s largest and most respected
trade shows.
In June, BHMA travels to Atlanta, Ga. to man its exhibit booth at the Construction Specifications
Institute’s 44th annual Convention and Expo from June 22-25. BHMA Program Director Maria Ungaro will be manning
Booth #2546, providing convention goers with BHMA certified product directories, specifier brochures and a look
at the latest PowerPoint presentation of the association’s third-party product certification program.
In August, BHMA will sponsor a special seminar on major new trends impacting the hardware industry
at the National Hardware Show (August 13-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago). Entitled "Redefining the Rep Organization
in the New Millennium," the hour-long panel discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities facing
today’s manufacturer’s rep, harnessing the power of e-commerce, and improving profits in the face of increasing
margin pressures.
Panel members are Edward B. Linaugh, Jr., president of Mid-Atlantic Agents, Ltd.; Jim Cashmore,
president of I.S.K. Industries, Inc.; and Jeff Windstein, Jr., manufacturers representative for DeJure Windstein,
Inc. BHMA Executive Director Peter Rush will moderate.
From September 7-9, BHMA staff will be in San Francisco at the 25th annual convention of the
Door & Hardware Institute (DHI). In addition manning the association’s traditional booth with DHI, BHMA officials
will present the annual BHMA Award of Excellence and announce the winner of the BHMA/DHI Education Foundation scholarship
for 2000.
The BHMA Award of Excellence is given to the distributor or hardware professional who has demonstrated
exceptional ability in meeting the needs of architects, contractors, users and manufacturers. The scholarship,
open to employees of contract hardware distributors, provides tuition, room and board to
a DHI Technical School of the winner’s choice.
