BHMA Announces Dr. Marc H. Siegel, Commissioner of the ASIS Global Standards Initiative, as Keynote for 2016 Annual Fall Meeting

Dr. Siegel to discuss school security during industry meeting this October

NEW YORK, NY (September 7, 2016) – The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) today announces Dr. Marc H. Siegel, commissioner of the global standards initiative for ASIS International, as the keynote speaker for its Annual Fall Meeting hosted this year at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort just outside of Palm Springs, CA from October 4-6.

The Annual Fall Meeting will kick-off on Tuesday with the Standards Steering Committee meeting, where the development of future American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards covering new technologies—particularly electronic hardware—will be discussed.  The meeting will also include a review of BHMA’s marketing initiatives, including the launch of its residential hardware certification program targeted at consumers and residential contractors. Technical subcommittee discussions regarding A156.33 for Battery Powered Locks (NEW), A156.22 for Gasketing and A156.23 for Electromagnetic Locks and A156.27 for Revolving Doors are also scheduled. Dr. Siegel will conclude the 3-day annual meeting with a keynote speech on building codes and door hardware as they relate to current issues surrounding school safety.

“As an industry leader, BHMA is constantly focused on evolving with changing technologies and staying on top of the key issues that are important to our members and the public,” said Ralph Vasami, BHMA executive director.  “We look forward to finalizing the development of a new standard at this year’s meeting, and to hearing the valuable insights of Dr. Siegel on one of today’s most pressing life safety and security issues affecting the builder’s hardware industry.”
