Thank you for your interest in the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA). BHMA is the trade association for North American manufacturers of commercial builders hardware. Since its founding in 1925, BHMA has endeavored to promote the general development and welfare of the builders hardware industry and its member companies.

BHMA currently authors 31 ANSI/BHMA standards in the builder’s hardware category, covering everything from hinges to locks to power door. In addition, BHMA collect statistics on a variety of builders hardware products, is involved in international standards, serving as both U.S. TAG Administrator & Secretariat for the ISO TC or SC, is also involved in code and life safety regulations and other activities that specifically impact builders hardware.

BHMA is recognized as one of the leading organizations dealing with third party certification and currently publishes a Certified Products Directory, a listing of builders hardware products that have been third party certified to meet current standards.

Membership meetings are held twice a year along with numerous subcommittee meetings. These meetings serve as a useful introduction to the association and its activities. For additional questions and/or information, please call (212) 297-2122.

Member Benefits

Full Membership
Any manufacturer engaged in the manufacturing and selling of "builders hardware" in the United States, Canada or Mexico shall be eligible for membership in the Corporation. Complete a membership application (pdf).

Associate Membership
Any firm may be eligible for Associate membership in the Corporation if it is engaged in supplying product componentry, or is engaged in production processes for primary manufacturers and sellers of builders hardware in United States, Canada, or Mexico. An Associate Membership is possible only if the firm does not meet the eligibility requirements for Full Membership. Complete an associate membership application (pdf).
