BHMA UPDATES STANDARD FOR ARCHITECTURAL TRIM
Builders Hardware Standard Describes Requirements for Architectural Trim
NEW YORK, NY – The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) announces the publication of ANSI/BHMA A156.6-2005 American National Standard for Architectural Trim. This publication is an update of a 2001 version.
ANSI/BHMA A156.6 covers requirements for door protection plates, door edgings, push plates, door pulls, push bars, and pull bars. Included are strength and finish tests, and dimensional and material criteria.
"BHMA urges architects and specifiers to apply BHMA Standards for the best performance, aesthetics and public safety," said Mike Tierney, Standards Coordinator for the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association. "Allowing the use of lower quality products will undermine the integrity of the building.”
In addition to minor formatting alterations, this Standard included changes in mounting and the use of fasteners, modification of the exit screw distance from the corners, as well as the addition of new models.
