BHMA TO EXHIBIT AT NFPA WORLD SAFETY CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION 2006

NEW YORK, NY – The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) is pleased to announce its participation at the NFPA World Safety Conference & Exposition 2006 in Orlando, FL, June 4-8, 2006. Information on the BHMA Certification Program and the Door Safety Council (DSC) will be featured at the BHMA booth (#813) during the exposition starting Sunday, June 4 at 3:30 p.m.

BHMA is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and collaborations between these organizations are key to ensuring safety and security in the builders hardware community. For example, one of the goals of the DSC is to develop mandatory requirements through existing code bodies for regular inspection of fire rated doors and doors in the path of egress.

“The relationship BHMA and DSC have with the NFPA is important for achieving the common goal of safety and security for the public,” stated Ralph Vasami, Director of Codes and Regulatory Affairs, BHMA. “Exhibiting during the NFPA show is a great opportunity to continue discussions on important code related issues with NFPA and create awareness among attendees about the objectives and accomplishments of BHMA and DSC.”

About BHMA

The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) is an industry leader in building safety and security. BHMA is the only organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop and maintain performance standards for locks, closers, exit devices and other builders hardware. The widely known ANSI/BHMA A156 series of standards describes and establishes the features and criteria for specific types of hardware products. In addition, BHMA sponsors third-party certification of hardware products, which is a requirement for a product to bear the “BHMA Certified” mark — insuring that the product meets the ANSI/BHMA standard. For more information on BHMA, please write to BHMA, 355 Lexington Avenue, Suite 1500, New York, NY, 10017 or visit the Web site at www.buildershardware.com.

About the NFPA

The mission of the international nonprofit NFPA is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. NFPA membership totals more than 79,000 individuals from around the world and more than 80 national trade and professional organizations. Established in 1896, NFPA serves as the world's leading advocate of fire prevention and is an authoritative source on public safety. In fact, NFPA's 300 codes and standards influence every building, process, service, design, and installation in the United States, as well as many of those used in other countries. NFPA's focus on true consensus has helped the association's code-development process earn accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

NFPA's World Safety Conference & Exposition® (WSC&E) is the biggest event for fire protection, security, and life safety professionals. This year's event will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, June 4-8.
